An opportunity to meet “face to face” the great directors of the 2016-17 Season
“Directors at the Opera” is the title of a new initiative organised by the Teatro dell’Opera that promotes a series of meetings with the audience and the stage directors who are currently working at the 2016-17 Season at the Teatro Costanzi.
From January to October 2017 there will be six events, all starting at 9pm, in which six stage directors, will talk about their artistic views as well as their relationship with music, theatre and the art world. It is an opportunity to understand them as artists and to get to know their personalities.
Opera is drama in music, in which listening is not the only thing that matters. Hence the importance of the role of the stage directors: action, scenes, lights, movements and acting of the singers are all fundamental elements that help to give shape to the ideas of those composers who chose to dedicate their lives to the musical theatre.
To understand the importance of this point it is enough to think of the detailed stage directions left to us by some musician, like Verdi, for example.
With the initiative ”Directors at the Opera” the Teatro Costanzi is consolidating its role as a workshop. The extended timeframes needed to set up a work, provides a good opportunity to exchange ideas and experiences among stage directors, musical conductors and the entire cast.
The stage directors will be very important for the success of the next season.
